Tyler Rush

Tyler is the embodiment of the heart and soul of the New Rochelle Dirtbags. The left handed power hitter was entering his third season with the ‘Bags before he was tragically taken from the team in a fatal motorcycle accident. A great leader on the field and an exceptional teammate as well as a true friend, he was a core member of the Dirtbags since their inception in 2010.

Before joining the ‘Bags in the Spring of 2010, Tyler played alongside fellow Dirtbags Chris Mentrasti, Dave McCorison, Greg Locke, Jeff Sosis and Greg Valvano for the Westchester Cubs in the WRWBL. After their time together on the Cubs, the group decided to build the New Rochelle based ball club around this core group with Tyler as the rock behind the plate and commander on the field. He not only led the team through his playing performance, but he was also a mentor to the younger newcomers who were still learning the game.

Prior to the Dirtbags, he played collegiately for the Rockland Community College Hawks where he spent his time behind the dish. Before RCC, Tyler played high school ball for Archbishop Stepinac High School, a familiar program to many current and former Dirtbags. In addition to his role on the ball club, he also continued to coach and help out with future stars in the Stepinac baseball program.

Tyler is an irreplaceable member of the Dirtbags who will always be missed by his friends and teammates.

Bro, I miss you a ton. I wish I knew Sunday was the last time I’d ever see you. Everyone is hurting deeply. All I can think about is how your probably freaking out that you’re missing all the food at your house.
